 Deserving Cats at the Sanctuary

The life of many cats at the shelter, may seem as though everything is fine and dandy.  For the most part they are.
The one thing that the cats want is a bond with a human, who they can tend to with their distinct way of showing it with their owner.  They all have personalities of their own, each bringing special traits to a relationship, whether at the Sanctuary, or in your home.  The cats do a fine job of managing their daily lives at the Sanctuary.

National Cat Day!

National Cat Day was founded by Jason Merrill. It is a celebration that takes place on October 29th, every year in the United States. The National Cat Day website states that the holiday was first celebrated in 2005 "to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of cats that need to be rescued each year and also to encourage cat lovers to celebrate the cat(s) in their life for the unconditional love and companionship they bestow upon us." The day is supported by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, a nonprofit organization which also works to encourage pet adoption.

It's Craft Show time!

We love the Craft shows!

We have some amazing crafters who spend all year crafting for the chance to sell their unique, one of a kind crafts, blankets, knick knacks, holiday items, mostly related to cats.  We want you to make plans to make a trip for some wonderful holiday and cat related crafts and trinkets.  100% of proceeds go to benefit the cats  We also would love to make appointments for those who would like to visit and meet the cats up for adoption.

 We have a New Adoption!

We will miss Merlin as he goes off to his new home!

Our goal is to find a long term, loving home with a person/s or family for all of the Cats.  If you would like to meet the cats in person, please call the Sanctuary directly: 216-671-6369

Researchers to Study the Benefits Cats Can Have On Kids With Autism.

The MU Research Center for Human-Animal Interaction is introducing a new research program titled "The Feline Friends Project." The project will pair children with autism with a cat and monitor the impact the cat has on the child’s anxiety level and social skills.

The research center has published several studies that outline the benefits that children with autism receive from having pets in the home, citing increased social skills as a primary benefit. With this study, researchers hope to find possible benefits unique to the behaviors exhibited by cats.
